The first cell-phone based on Google's Android platform went on sale Tuesday evening in San Francisco. G1's hardware is made by Taiwan's High-Tech Computer (HTC).

G1 will allow full access to the Internet and will give the user the experience of desktop computer rather than a mobile phone. The G1, like the iPhone, is a touchscreen phone that features a slide out Qwerty keyboard and upload and download content from the Internet with speeds reaching 1M/s. It has a 3.2-inch touchscreen display that slides away from the main body to expose a QWERTY keyboard

The phone will be able to run various types of applications which is available at Android Market
